The 1957 New York Auto Show marked the return of the American auto show after a 16 year hiatus. Buicks, Cadillacs, Plymouths and Ford’s stole the show with no competition from the imports. Fins, scooped grills, lower to the ground bodies accompanied by smaller wheels and curvy shapes and lines were on display en masse to wow the large crowds. Detroit’s auto designers were bent on leaving behind the drab boxy shapes of the past and ushered in a new styling trend in style.
