An excellent 3.5 cabriolet Mercedes that drives as well as it presents…this restored, long time California example is turn-key ready for events and daily driving
With cosmetic work done in the early 2000’s by longtime Southern California restorer of note Bruce Stauss and long time mechanical servicing by Scott Melnick, this 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet is in excellent condition as a restored example. Recent ownership has encompassed the last 20 years and during this period of stewardship the car has been cared for, serviced and maintained to a high standard. It has been stored correctly when not in use and driven only locally in Southern California since restoration.
This 1971 3.5 Cabriolet comes with properly functioning as delivered air conditioning and power windows. It is powered by the exceptionally robust 3.5 litre V8 engine that defines the separation between this model among the 280SE crowd. The car runs exceptionally well and comes with service records. Cosmetically the car has been well maintained in its redone livery of 040 Black over Black Leather Interior which emphasizes the quality of the accident free body and conveys the power and elegance which have propelled this Mercedes model into the upper echelons of the collector car world. Prior to the current ownership, this 3.5 cabriolet was fitted with a correct replacement 3.5 engine.
This example was delivered in the colors of 571 Red Metallic with 241 interior. Several reversible, inconspicuous modern upgrades have been made to this car which include a rather clever anti-theft system and a trunk based cd-player option.
This car is ready for daily driving and touring events and is a car we are proud to offer for sale for the first time in 20 years.
