Artcurial announces new Hong Kong auction on 5-6 October
French auction house Artcurial has announced a new Hong Kong-based auction on 5-6 October, which focuses on various works of art. One exception is the inclusion of a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster.
Collaborating with international auctioneers Spink & sons, which generally specialises in stamps, coins, bank notes and other collectibles, this new sale represents Artcurial’s first ever sale in Asia.
The only major automotive consignment for the sale is a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster, which is estimated HK$10,000,000–HK$15,000,000 (around $1.3m–$1.95m). This car has been in the hands of a single family for a total 48 years, and has been ‘meticulously’ maintained.
Being a 1961 model means that this 300SL is one of the best sorted, featuring disc brakes. This example also comes complete with the hugely desirable factory hard top.
