Once again, Scott Grundfor Company was on hand for the fun and festivities of the Amelia Island collector car weekend featuring the famed concours event as well as some major auction fun in the sun (and yes, the sun was out and did stick around). The concours event was moved from Sunday to Saturday and RM’s Ritz event was bumped from Saturday to Friday…but that hardly seemed to put a damper on the spirits of the weekend.
Without sounding boorish, things at the auctions seemed more well bought than well sold, however the “no sales” seemed fewer than usual with some of the higher value models having some trouble at the top end of the estimates (probably more to do with the cars themselves than the models proper)…and for those on hand merely for the spectacles, there were some fun back and forth bidding rivalries that surely leave an impression (I’ve never recalled Marmon’s leading to such entertainment, yet there everyone was to witness it).
As usual, full lot results lists are below and of course some highlight vehicles. 300SL’s on hand seemed to fall where we expected them to and it was a fun week of events we’ll be happy to return for again in 2019.
