Earlier this week, French auction house Artcurial featured none other than a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300SL at their inaugural sale in Hong Kong. The car, one of the last produced had been family owned from 1965 until 2013 and was a feature piece in the two day event.
Overall auction sales were tallied at $8.2 million (USD) and largely featured comics, art collectibles… and of course, one automobile.
Isabelle Bresset, Artcurial director and the auctioneer for the sale, said in a news release. “The strong prices and breaking records set throughout the 2-day auction reinforce Artcurial’s appeal to international and Asian buyers. As part of our international strategy, we now look forward to providing tailor-made services to Asian collectors.”
“We are very pleased with the nearly sell-out comics auction, first of its kind in Hong Kong,” added Eric Leroy, Artcurial’s comics specialist.
The auction preview drew 700 collectors and connoisseurs.
