Bonhams was able to achieve some exceptional results at its recent Zoute Sale in Belgium. Exceptional, in-demand cars produced realized prices indicative of a market still robustly valuing rarity and historical significance. A BMW 507 brought nearly 2.5M USD, a number at least in part attributable to superb original ownership history. A rare black over black 300SL Roadster achieved over 1M USD despite having a mismatched, though correct for the model engine, a result one could easily have seen falling 200k USD south of that price were the colors more common or non-original to the car. And finally of note, a stunning 250GT Lusso garnered a hefty $2,101,211 in crossing the block, a number 300 to $400K more than other high level Lusso’s have recently brought at auction.
