1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing
Gullwing owner, Clark Gable was an American film actor, often referred to as “The King of Hollywood” or just simply as “The King”. Gable was the leading man in more than 60 motion pictures over three decades.
Gable was arguably best known for his role as Rhett Butler in the epic Gone with the Wind (1939), for which he received his third nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Gable purchased the car above new and after his death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel.
