1935 Packard 1207 Coupe Roadster
Category: American Classics 1928-48
Owner: Brent Merrill, Toronto
National Grocers founder Marland Woolnough bought this car new from Toronto’s Packard showroom. Only 788 Packards were sold with V-12 engines in 1935; six coupe roadsters with V-12s are known to exist. Merrill previously showed this car at Pebble Beach in 2015.
1967 Beaumont SD 396
Category: Canadian Built and Engineered, 1948-73
Owner: Mark Bortolotto, Burlington, Ont.
A spectator at a Port Colborne, Ont., show said her dad had owned one just like it – as it turned out, her father was its first owner. Bertolotto relishes the rarity of GM Canada’s Chevelle-based muscle car. Only 259 SDs were made in 1967 with the big-block, 396-cubic-inch V-8
1912 Tudhope Model 4-36
Category: Museum Class
Owner: Orillia Heritage Centre, Orillia, Ont.
The Tudhope Building, now City Hall, originally opened as a car factory. Almost 80 years after an Albertan bought this 4-36, brothers John and Paul Smith set about its restoration. Their grandfather Gord once owned the 1909 Tudhope that’s also in the Orillia collection.
1922 Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost
Category: European Classics, 1915-48
Owner: Robert and Nancie Thompson, Port Elgin, Ont.
Although the Thompsons have driven another Rolls-Royce more than 193,000 kilometres since an engine rebuild in 1990, this Barker Pullman Limousine’s 150-inch wheelbase makes it too large for regular use. “Our daughter takes it for outings with her four children,” Thompson says. “Lots of room for a bushel of apples.”
1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk
Category: American Production, 1945-73
Owner: Mark James, Lancaster, Pa.
Perusing a book on 1950s cars in 2012, James decided he had to own a Golden Hawk. Now, he has eight and is publishing his own book on the coupes. After winning at Cobble with a ’58 last year, he returns with a ’56 that already has won at Hilton Head, S.C., and Boca Raton, Fla.
