Mercedes-lovers gathered at Brooklands on Sunday (May 24) to celebrate 60 years of the iconic 190SL.
Forty examples of the stylish model were present for what was the official international anniversary celebration.
Cars came from as far away as France and Switzerland, with enthusiastic spectators turning up from even further afield.
The day’s programme included parade laps on the Mercedes-Benz World Circuit, high-speed track demonstrations, technical and restoration advice and a group photograph on the famous Brooklands banking.
Originally displayed in prototype at the New York Motor Show in 1954, the first production 190SL was released in may 1955.
Despite a production run of more than 25,000 between 1955 and 1963, the 190SL remains a somewhat neglected in the public consciousness compared to other models in the LS series, overshadowed by its larger and more powerful siblings such as the 300SL Gullwing.
