It seems there may be a little bit of electricity in the air at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Expected is that along with an assortment of other vehicles, Mercedes-Benz will be unveiling their first of what will likely be many new electric production models from its new EQ sub-brand.
Speculation is that the new electric vehicle will be an SUV based model similar to the Tesla Model X. Mercedes has yet to disclose any particular details. The Generation EQ concept car (picture at top) was first shown in 2016 and had a respectable estimated range of 310-miles per charge. No doubt other European manufacturers will be unveiling both concept and production models at this years auto show as well and likely to market before the Mercedes EQ. Either way, it is an exciting era in the development of electric vehicles as ranges get larger, battery power gets stronger and demand increases as the inconveniences over gasoline-powered vehicles lessen.
Geneva 2018 should be an interesting show for Mercedes-Benz. Along with the new EQ electric vehicle, other highlights should include the unveiling of the new AMG G63 performance SUV, new features on the Maybach S Class and new AMG GT Coupe.
