Another annual Scottsdale Auction weekend has come and gone and what did we learn about the collector car market? Well, it’s really hard to predict on a case by case basis if your only concern is models and makes and average values. As the market is continuing its maturation process top quality examples are garnering the attention they rightfully deserve and achieving commensurate prices. The ever growing knowledge base of the increasingly large population of those interested in the hobby is at an all time high leading to a much more sophisticated and discerning approach to buying.
Buying premium cars (even at premium prices) is the best way to ensure your long term investment as the buyer pool expands and becomes more and more knowledgeable. There were plenty of deals to be found for well studied private individuals seeking quality driver examples and dealers seeking to add quality inventory. It seemed quite evident that outside of some notable top end mega dollar example no sales, buyers and sellers are beginning to get back in a grove, a meeting of the minds.
